Yesterday was a tiring day, in the afternoon, we had a field trip at Berakas Forest Reserves. You might think, apa ada sana? Pantai jua sja... Well, we went into the jungle and our first hike took us about 2++hours from 2.30pm til 4.45pm. We even nearly got lost because the trial was covered with acacia trees and we initially thought it wasn't a trial. It was a fun and educational hike. I learned that acacia trees are "alien" trees which were brought from Australia but due to it's rapid growth, it has taken over about 60% of the forest reserves and has made the other native trees to reduce their growth due to competition among these "alien" species and the native species. So, if any of you use the tutong-muara highway, there are acacia tress along that highway and there are not our native plants. These plants have disrupt the native eco-system of Brunei. Wow, I'm getting very educational. Haha... :D Our second hike (yeap, another hike!) took us about 30minutes only but the jungle was dark and moist and i nearly slipped while walking down a slope. Very dangerous! At the end of the day, I have learnt so much and this experience have taught me to appreciate our native plants and preserve them as much as possible.
