Carbon Footprint

Have any of you heard about Carbon Footprint? I heard this when I was watching Oprah at Hallmark Channel.

Definition of Carbon Footprint:
From Time for a change
"The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2)."

From Wikipedia
"measure of the impact that human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide"

Why is this important?
"Over the past century, the Earth has increased in temperature by about 0.5 degrees Celsius and many scientists believe this is because of an increase in concentration of the main greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorocarbons. People are now calling this climate change over the past century the beginning of Global Warming." - Greenhouse gases & Society by Nick Hopwood & Jordan Cohen

and;

Because "Your carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by your activities in a given time frame." - Time for a change.

How do we reduce?
It is best to find out what is your Carbon Footprint. The bigger the footprint, the larger of amount of Carbon Dioxide you're contributing to the atmosphere (which is obviously NOT good!)

You can calculate your carbon footprint here

This is just of awareness. It is up to you if you want to change for the better of our future and our children.
